The Chaos Orb is an artifact card, a special type that occupies the battlefield but doesnt have health or power like a creature
The sequel featured the same set of cards as the first game, plus the Team Rocket set of cards from the TCG and a few more, which increased the overall available number of cards to 445
I also thought Mirrodin was the combo year but again, most of the combo support cards come from Darksteel and Fifth Dawn as you can see below in my usual list of other good cards from the year
