We need cards that repeatedly make friends for us to tap
There are no real abuses that you can do with these cards, they will always cost you a mana in your turn, always replace themselves with a new card and should improve the quality of that card and/or the next few
Both of these cards take up a lot of life, though, and so they come paired with a health amount of lifegain in cards like Papalymo Totolymo, and Y'shtola's own ability.
