While Dark Ritual has been reprinted into the ground (you can buy a Mirage copy for pennies), the Alpha version is a true collectors piece

No mechanical rules are violated in these situations, the game allows for such cards to be played and encourages such victories to be won
If you manage to flip Invasion of Tarkir, which is trivial when your deck is rich with big fliers, it becomes an absolute monster of a creature
whole deck line-up theory is still tremendously helpful, but is only applicable to relatively extreme matchups
