Shane Sissel is the administrator of Brooklyn Community Estate, a skilled nursing facility in east central Iowa, tasked with supporting the elderly of Poweshiek County and surrounding communities.
Mr. Sissel completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work and aging studies certificate at the University of Iowa where he was also a member of the University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band. Shane obtained his nursing home administrator license in 2010. Over the years, he has volunteered on the Ladora First Responders and Ladora Fire Department.
Over the course of his 25+ year career in long term care, he has worked at 6 different skilled nursing homes in varying roles including activity director, social worker, and administrator. Shane has been with Brooklyn Community Estate since March of 1998. Currently Shane and his wife Susan are co-owners of Brooklyn Community Estate, Rose Haven Nursing Home, and the Lodge on Lafayette.
Shane’s experience provides him with a broad perspective and the ability to oversee both the clinical and administrative aspects of the nursing home, from its staff to medical care, financial matters, and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
